Saying that he has no light to shed on [George] Gershwin's life, that if his father [Robert Alda] ever heard any interesting stories from Oscar Levant or Paul Whiteman her never passed them on, that Gershwin's was the first serious music he ever heard and that it has "a powerful effect on me to this day," etc.
